Introduction:

PSL (Pakistan Super League) was founded on 9 September 2015. Due to a Cricket ban on Pakistan, which was imposed by an attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009, the first PSL season started in 2016 at UAE.

The first opening ceremony of PSL season 1 was held in UAE,  inaugurated by UAE Sports Minister Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. The PSL’s official logo was Revealed by 3Di and launched on 20th September 2015 in a ceremony held in Lahore.

PSL Teams:

There are six teams in the PSL, those PSL teams are listed below.

  • Islamabad United

  • Peshawar Zalmi

  • Multan Sultan

  • Quetta Gladiator

  • Lahore Qalandars

  • Karachi Kings

Islamabad United:

Islamabad United was Founded in 2015, on the name of a City in Pakistan named Islamabad. Its Home ground is Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, in Rawalpindi. This team owner is a leading Sports management Company whose name is Leonine Global Sports.

The current Captain of this Team is Shadab Khan (Pakistani Cricketer), the current coach name is Mike Hesson who is also a coach of the NewZealand Cricket team and he also coached Argentina and Kenya, and Otagao in NZ domestic Cricket.

This team won the PSL winner title twice. First time is in the 2016 edition at Dubai International Cricket Stadium,Dubai, in which they chased against Quetta Gladiators and won the match with the margin of 6 wickets.

Second Time is in the 2018 edition at National Stadium,Karachi, the match was against Peshawar Zalmi in which they chased and won with the margin of 3 wickets.The player of the tournament was Luke Ronchi (from Islamabad United).

Peshawar Zalmi:

Peshawar Zalmi was founded in 2015, on the name of a City in Pakistan named Peshawar. The team owner of this team is Javed Afridi who is a Pakistani Businessman and Entrepreneur. The Home ground of this team is Arbab Niaz Stadium,Peshawar.

The current Captain of this team is Babar Azam (Pakistani Cricketer), the current coach of this team is Daren Sammy who is a WestIndies Cricketer and played many matches for the WestIndies International Cricket team.

This team won the PSL 2017 edition, at Gaddafi Stadium,Lahore. The final Match was against Quetta Gladiators but Peshawar Zalmi won with the margin of 58 runs. The Player of the Tournament was Kamran Akmal (from Peshawar Zalmi).

Multan Sultan:

Multan Sultan was founded in 2017, on the name of a City in Pakistan named Multan(also known as City of Saints). The team owner is Ali Tareen, the son of Jahangir Khan Tareen, who is a Pakistani Businessman and a Former Politician. The Home ground of Multan Sultan is Multan Cricket Stadium,Multan.

The current Captain of this is Muhammad Rizwan (Pakistani Cricketer), the current coach of this team is Abdulrehman who is a Former Pakistani Cricketer.

This was the winning team of HBL PSL 2021 edition, also two times Runner-up. The final match was against Peshawar Zalmi, won by the margin of 47 runs. This match was held at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium,Abu Dhabi. The player of the tournament was Hoaib Maqsood (from Multan Sultan).

Quetta Gladiators:

Quetta Gladiators Was founded in 2015, on the name of the City Quetta, in Pakistan.The team owner is Nadeem Omar, a Pakistani business executive and former Scrabble Player. The Home ground of this team is Bugti Stadium,Quetta.

The current captain of this team is Rilee Rossouw (South African Cricketer). The current coach is Shane Watson, is a former Australian Cricketer and a commentator.

This team is the winner of the PSL 2019 edition, also two times Runner-up. The final match was played against Peshawar Zalmi in which they chased and won by 8 wickets.

This match was held at National Stadium,Karachi. The player of the tournament was Shane Watson from Quetta Gladiators team.

Lahore Qalandars:

Lahore Qalandars was founded in 2015, on the name of the City named Lahore, Pakistan (also called the City of Gardens). The owner of this team is Fawad Rana, a Pakistani Businessman.

The Home Ground of this team is Gaddafi Stadium,Lahore.

The current captain of this team is Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistani Cricketer). The current coach of this team is Aqib Javed, a former Pakistani Cricketer.

This team achieved the title of PSL 2022 edition and 2023 edition also. In 2022 edition Lahore Qalandar won with the margin of 42 runs, in 2023 edition this team won with the margin of 1 runs in both editions the team chased and won the tournament magnificently at their Home ground Gaddafi Stadium,Lahore.

In the 2022 edition the player of the tournament was Muhammad Rizwan, whereas   in the 2023 edition the player of the tournament was Ihsanullah,these both are Multan Sultan Players.

Karachi Kings:

Karachi Kings was founded in 2015, named after the City Karachi, Pakistan(also known as City of Lights). The owner of this team is Salman Iqbal, is a Pakistani media businessman and the CEO of ARY Digital Network. The Home ground of this team is National Stadium,Karachi.

The current captain is Shan Masood(Pakistani Cricketer). The current coach of this team is Phill Simmons, a trinidadian(a country in the Caribbean)  former player and cricket coach.

This team won the PSL 2020 edition in their Home ground National Stadium,Karachi. They won the match against Lahore Qalandar by chasing, and won the 2020 edition with the margin of 5 wickets.

The player of the tournament was King Babar Azam (from Karachi Kings).

Babar Azam Introduction: Muhammed Babar Azam born 15 October 1994. He is the former Captain of Pakistani team.
