Australia won the toss and elected to bat first

The first test began from December 14th to 17th. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. As usual, David Warner and Usman Khawaja appeared as opening batsmen. They form a strong partnership that is an issue for Pakistan. Shaheen then bowled with a fuller length bowl which edged through the bat and caught behind the stumps by Sarfraz Ahmed.

Khawaja is out on 41, Australia lose their one wicket at 126 runs. Marnus Labuschagne came as a new batsmen, Marnus and Warner building a good partnership but that partnership was broken by Faheem Ashraf when he bowled to Marnus with an in-swinging good length ball which hit pads and Umpire gave an Out.

Australia now have 2 wickets lost at 159 runs. It seems like Pakistani bowlers are back in action. After Marnus Steve Smith Came at no 4 who helped Australia by scoring runs, and building a good target. In between David Warner scored a century at 125 balls.

That partnership between Warner and Smith was broken by Khurram Shahzad. Who set Smith wicket by bowling 2 in-swinging balls, and at 3rd ball he changed the seam position of the ball to out-swinging direction, ball edged through bat of Smith and caught by wicket keeper.

Australia now have 238 runs at the loss of 3 wickets. New batsman is Travis Head who recently  scored a century in Cricket World Cup 2023. Travis after coming at crease started a rain of runs, but those runs were slowed down by Aamer Jamal he bowled Travis with a slower ball, over the wicket, short outside off. Head upper cuts straight to the fielder who is some way in off the rope, almost a deep fly slip. Not the first time Head has fallen this way, and in perth. Maiden test wicket for Aamer Jamal on his debut.

Australia have 304 at the loss of 4 wickets. Mitchell Marsh came at no 5. David Warner scored 150 runs for his team. The inning of David Warner ended by Aamer Jamal short ball worked for Jamal, Warner takes it on again and can’t get the distance on this hook shot. Was a bit higher for him to control. Warner played a very good innings in this match.

Aamer Jamal did a great job on his debut. Alex Carey Came at no 6, Australia now have a good target but if marsh stay the target may increase and become a problem for Pakistani team. Aamer Jamal on his last bowl of 13th over bowled Alex Carey, What a ball! Out of nowhere. An unplayable delivery. Angled in at off stump from round the wicket, full length, nips off the seam and takes off stumps. What a good bowling from Aamer Jamal. Mitchell Starc came at no 7 but no longer stayed on crease, Aamer Jamal Bowled Mitchell Starc. Aamer now has 4 wickets.

Captain came to bat. Khurram Shahzad Bowled Mitchell Marsh on his 1st bowl of his 20th over, No century for Mitchell Marsh, Shahzad gets it full at the stumps, hint of shape, he goes for a big drive and the ball zips back between bat and pad. Middle stump knocked back. Aamer on his 4th ball of 19th over gets the wicket of Australian Captain Pat Cummins the ball edged through Cummins' bat and caught by slip.

Aamer now has 5 wickets on his debut, Aamer celebrates as he has to. Australia now has 481 at the loss of nine wickets. Nathon Lyon came to the crease but stayed no longer as he was bowled by Aamer Jamal, Jamal finished off with 6 wickets.

Australia declared at 113.2 overs with the total of 487, which is a big target for any team

Pakistan First Inning

Imam-ul-haq and Abdullah Shafique appeared as opening batsmen, first over was bowled by Mitchel Starc. They build a good partnership but the runs are not coming as required to win this test.

At 36th over of Nathon Lyon, Abdullah Shafique  tried to hit the ball but he didn't manage to hit the ball as a result a fine edge through the bat came in David Warner's hand at short fine and Abdullah out. Shan Masood then came as the next batsmen. He scored a good run with a good strike rate, Imam and Shan approximately built a good partnership, but this partnership was broken by Mitchell Starc as he bowled to Shan. Shan tried to drive this ball but did not manage to do that and a fine edge came through the bat and caught by wicket keeper, but out is not given by Umpire, Captain straight away took a review. In review it proves that the ball edged through the bat so Umpire reversed his decision from not out to out. Pakistan has 123 runs at the loss of 2 wickets.

Khurram Shahzad appeared as a new batsmen but he didn't manage to stay on crease and score runs for his team and was bowled by Pat Cummins with a full and straighter ball right at middle stumps and Khurram walks back.

Babar Azam came as a new batsmen, who is the main guy to score good runs and give a tough time to Australian bowlers, (said commentators). Babar and Imam scored good runs for team Pakistan. At the 5th ball of 70th over Babar bowled by Mitchell Marsh as the ball just hit the handle of bat and caught by wicket keeper behind the stumps, Babar had to walk back to pavilion, an unbelievable wicket for Babar's fans but it is what it is.

After Babar, Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha played pretty well and scored some runs in favor of their team but all out at 271 runs.

The brief summary of that test is that Australia won by 360 runs

Test played in Perth, Australia between 14-17 December2023.
